The clarity grading of a diamond refers to how many inclusions, blemishes and/or flaws, either internal or external, a diamond has. Most all diamonds have natural inclusions. The fewer and/or smaller inclusions a diamond has, the higher its quality. A diamond with fewer inclusions allows more light to reflect and pass through it creating more sparkle, brilliance and beauty. The fewer inclusions a diamond has, the more expensive it will be. Diamonds that are heavily flawed are less desirable and therefore less expensive. You need to decide. Some people believe that bigger is better, and that is O.K. Working with in a budget, They don't mind if the diamond they are purchasing has large visible inclusions. While other people, working in the same budget, would rather purchase a smaller diamond of higher quality. The person receiving the diamond needs to be satisfied with the diamonds quality. The Perfect Choice: For an engagement ring, the A.S.G. recommends that you purchase a diamond that has SI+ or VS+ clarity. It is the perfect combination of value and quality.

| Each diamond is graded to strict clarity grading standards at the A.S.G. diamond grading center or by certified and authorized members. Each diamond is carefully inspected and compared to our standard evaluation charts to determine its proper classification of clarity. Because of the strict standards that we employ, we can deliver consistent clarity grading classifications that both suppliers and consumers can depend on. The clarity grade assigned to the diamond is documented on an evaluation form along with other characteristics of the diamond. The clarity classification that is assigned to a diamond, such as "VS+" or "SI+", is a value that is determined and defined by the A.S.G. diamond grading system. Although clarity grading is somewhat subjective, the A.S.G. is virtually consistent and suppliers, members and consumers should be satisfied each time they buy sell or trade an A.S.G.
