One of the most important variables that
affects the value and beauty of a diamond is its CUT. The cut of a
diamond does not refer to the shape of a diamond, such as Round, Marquise
or Pear shape. But rather, the CUT of a diamond refers to the cutting
proportions. When a diamond is properly cut, it reflects light better
which creates more sparkle and beauty. When a diamond is extremely heavy
cut or shallow cut (see illustration below) it sparkles less, has
less beauty and therefore, cost less.
